The PELX is an economy plastic edgelit LED exit sign built around a UV-stabilized acrylic edgelit panel with a factory-installed Mirror finish, for consistent, uniform illumination with ultra-bright, energy-efficient, long-life LED lettering. It ships as a Universal Single/Double Face sign — the same unit works as either, using a factory-installed silver mylar background panel and stick-on mylar sheet for double-face installations. Choose Red, Green, or Red/Green lettering, and an injection-molded, engineering-grade 5VA flame-retardant, high-impact resistant thermoplastic housing in White, Black, or Silver powder-coated finish. The sign ships as a surface-mount unit with a plastic mounting canopy included for top, end, or back mount; a separately ordered PREL-KIT accessory allows a quick field conversion to recessed mounting (bar hangers for drywall or drop-ceiling installation are included with that kit). Self-adhesive Chevron appliques and a guide template are provided for directional indication. Dual 120/277V input voltage is standard. Choose the AC-only version for continuously powered signage, or the Battery Backup (EM) version, which adds a 3.6V long-life, maintenance-free rechargeable NiCd battery with an internal solid-state transfer switch for a minimum of 90 minutes of emergency illumination on power loss, a fully automatic two-rate charger that recharges a discharged battery within 24 hours, and a unique bi-color LED indicator light (green = normal, red = check battery) with a push-to-test switch for mandated code compliance testing.
